Artist Bio
 

Jim Edmonds was born in Englewood, New Jersey, 1943. He earned his BFA at the School of Visual Arts, New York City. His art education has included studies with Burne Hogarth, Paul Davis, Harvey Dinnerstein, Geoege Ortman, Richard Pousette-Dart,  photogapher Frank Stewart and  Bob Blackburn's Printmaking Workshop. He was personal photographer for and mentored by acclaimed painter A. C. Hollingworth (member of "Spirial", a group of important African American artists that came together in the 1960's). Jim  has been teaching photography at the Art center of Northern New Jersey(www.artcenter-nnj.org) for over 20 years. His intense interest in Jazz has fuelled his ongoing photographic documentation of some of the world's greatest jazz musicians. In addition to photography Jim is a printmaker, sculptor and painter, whose work has been exhibited throughtout the NYC metropolitan area. He has been included in exhibitions at the Belskie Museum, BergenPAC, Schomburg Center for Reasearch in Black Culture, New Jersey Institute of Technology, New York Theological Seminary, the Art Center of Northern New Jersey , Englewood Creates  and the Skylight Gallery in Brooklyn, N. Y. He is represented in many collections, both private and institutional (i.e. Ullyses and Barbara kay collection, Rutger's history professor Clement A. Price, the Robeson Center in Newark . He is a member of the National Conference of Artists (www.ncanewyork.com). For many years Jim has contibuted his experise to the Bergen County teen Arts Festival, the Bergen County art Scholarship Program and has juried many Bergen County "Art in the Park" Shows.
